Are you aware that there are good anti virus packages within Kubuntu, such as clamav?
This can easily be installed in adept or synaptic or by command line.

In your package manager search - type anti virus and then choose one of the packages.
I know several people who use clamav apart from myself.

Yes, I am aware about Clam AV.
I also know that avast! Home Edition for Linux is another option, too.
However, None of them is as effective as AVIRA AntiVir is...
