[Solved]No internet for non primary user

Hi guys, I probably should have posted in this section.
Please check out the thread in the Hardy Heron Network Support section

    http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?board=84.0

Trying to give my wife and daughter their own login ID's.
The USB modem is set up exactly the same for my account - when I click on the globe icon for KNetwork and select my ISP I have set up I get no rotating gear like I do in my account, no connection, no action at all.

    Help please?

Could be a rights issue. You prolly want to examine the file /etc/group - make sure that the other users are in the same groups as you (such as dialout).

You have to edit the file as root - nano on the CLI is prolly easiest (sudo nano /etc/group). Then log out and log in again to see whether it worked.

Oh, and always make a backup copy before you start editing:

    Code:
    sudo cp /etc/group /etc/group.bak

      Thanks Toad.

I added their names to every group where my name appeared, including admin.
      I used commas ie. Myname,Name1,name2

      Still no joy here.
Even though I am a noob I wondered if it was a permissions issue myself.
What would be the next step I should take in investigating this issue?

Well, having made that that is okay we can move on...

Can you connect at all from their accounts? Even if you go through all the motions of setting up an ISP again?

          Ah Ha, thank you sir

Deleting the connection, then re-enabling it resolved my issue.

How do I mark the thread as solved
