Formatting second hard drive keeping it NTFS

I want to format my secondary hard drive which is an NTFS hard drive. I'm not sure if I want to go back to Windows eventually or not so I don't think I want to change the file system from NTFS. I'm running Kubuntu 8.04. What is the best way for me to format this second hard drive?

    your linux understands ntfs.
install yourself (through synaptic, adept, whatever...) the following:
    a) gparted (gui partition editor)
    b) ntfsprogs (backends for ntfs support)
then build a ntfs file system on your second hard drive's whatever partition.
    that should be it.

if your going to want to r/w that drive from linux you should install ntfs-3g so you can access it.

Whenever I go to gparted to create a new partition it won't let me. New is just grayed out. I installed NTFSprogs.

that normally happens when there's no room for a new partition.
make sure you select the correct drive in the upper right hand corner.
make sure there's unpartitioned room to
          a) create a new partition on the drive
          b) create a ntfs file system on the partition

if the partition is already there and you want to use that for your file system, then just
          a) right click on that partition
          then
          b) format to -> ntfs

of course all the data on that partition will be lost.
so be careful as to where you point and click
