nVidia vs. Intel video for laptop?

I am searching for a new laptop. Most new ones come with Intel GMA 4500 MHD
    or
nVidia 9600M GT or 9800M GT.

I want stable but still good graphics. What do I get? The hardware compat list says no 3D with 9800, but I think that might be out of date.

Please help me decide. I really need a new laptop but want to make sure I get good linux supported hardware.

I'd go with the nvidia. Mainly based on the fact that they worked around the DRI1/2 issue while intel hasn't. When Jaunty comes out
then this difference won't matter anymore though because it includes dri2.

Not sure about the compat list. I'd *guess* you can get 3D if you use the proprietary drivers.

I actually have an nvidia card on my laptop, and though there were some issues, first with the drivers, then with kde4 and finally with Jaunty's X, it now works very well. So i'd say go with nvidia.
