Screen Resolution on HDTV via HDMI

Installed Kubuntu today, but I cannot figure out how to get the screen resolution higher than 640x480, that is the only option it gives me along with a 0 refresh rate. I have a radeon hd 4350 hooked up to my vizio vx32l tv via hdmi. I found this post on the ubuntu forums for a solution but I cant make sense of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am completely new to linux so suggestions would need to be explained thoroughly for me to understand them, thanks!

    Welcome.

First thing you need to be aware of, is that unless you provide us with specifics, very little 'sound' advice/help can be provided. By this, I mean, you need to tell us what version of Kubuntu you installed, what platform you installed it on; 32- or 64-bit (if on a PC); what hardware you have it on: number/type of HDs; what make/model of video card/chip you have.

Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.
