    Boot problems: Missing Modules, etc

Hello. I'm new to Kubuntu and Linux as a whole. Decided finally to switch from XP Pro due to security concerns.

Upon completion of the installation, the computer restarted and had trouble. The above is the boot error issue received, hopefully, someone here can tell me what's the matter. It appears to be missing modules and having a problem with that whole serial number thingy ie. "5FD-K6HD-GKHJE56-KJH"

Anyways, no idea what I have to do from there. Thanks in advance! Regards, Node.

A few basics please. What version of Kubuntu did you install? From the screen shots, you are attempting to boot from the first HD, partition 5 (hd0,4). Is XP still on the HD? How did you partition the drive?

Kubuntu 8.10, downloaded from: DVD i386
      Standard personal computer (x86 architecture)...
      http://torrent.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/re...86.iso.torrent

      Specs...
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ 2.00 GHz, 1.50 GB of RAM nVidia 7600 GS Realtek AC'97 Audio with est. 150 GB hard disk space. The computer has two HDDrives... The other was disabled during setup.

After the download completed, I burned the ISO image to DVD and restarted the computer. The DVD booted at first try on installing Kubuntu with Option 2: Use Entire Disk... It finished after awhile and restarted (doing as instructed, removing the DVD). The boot screen above appeared just the same as it turned out to be after trying to reinstall Kubuntu from running Live CD using Option 1: 50%.

Recently, we had a case like this.
I would do it all over again -- burn a new CD and check it:

Did you also check the MD5sum of the downloaded file?
