    Timidity beginner problem..

I got Timidity going on my computer.. and i appreciate the Adept program more now too..

When i download a midi file from classcialarchives.com the Timidity doesnt seem save the midi file. It plays it only. Theres nothing in the playlist.

I notice the website recommends s/ware that supports wma and suggests mplayer or VLC. :P

Can anyone advise. Many Thanks. I appreciate it.

VLC is a great cross-platform program. Just install through Adept, or
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install vlc
It is in the the multiverse repo so be sure to have that checked in Adept.

For mplayer, it is easiest to get that via medibuntu:

Plenty of help with that here... just search if need be.

Thanks for that recommendation. I installed the VLC - but couldnt - and says it won't - play Midi files. Does that sound right?

I could try the MPlayer option...
