Ive broken Kubuntu

Hi and help
Firstly im completely new to Linux and unfamiliar with most of the terminology used with it.

I had installed Xubuntu 8.10 and everything was fine untill….
Sessions and startup.. I ticked lunch KDE services at start, gnome was also left ticked.

Now it will not boot
gave up waiting for root device
Boot args(cat/prog/cmdline)
Missing modules cat/prog/cmdline is /dev
Alert /dev/disk/by uuid/offeoc4e-9e5a-81566f91fo2does not exist
Dropping to shell

Is it possible to repair this easily?

Have a look at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/284774 . It suggests that when it drops to a shell it is enough to type:

exit

The last post has other leads.

I tried exit, which didn’t work
Also had a read of the other post on your url link, none of which made much sense to me.
But thanks for taking the time to try and help.

Solved
I managed to switch to an earlier Kernel and turned off KDE services.
