    installation help

    i booted kubuntu from a disc, but after bootup, it came to a screen that was black at the top 30% of the screen or so, and magenta the rest of the screen... the pointer would show when in the black part...

    plz help!! i've never installed linux before, and i don't know what's wrong...

    You are having a conflict with your video card. It will be helpful if you tell us about your PC - type, drive(s) type, video card make and model.
    Windows no longer obstructs my view.

      did you try booting in safe graphics mode to see if you get anything at all and does your PC meet the minimum requirements for running Kubuntu?.

      Important factors are: size of RAM (memory) does your graphics card have its own memory or is it shared (if shared then deduct sum from the RAM total) and do you have enough disk space?.
