How to get JRE working in Firefox

    Hi,

I have recently installed Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE 3.5.10
I want to be able to run Java applets on-line (e.g. those on www.walter-fendt.de/ph14e/), but cannot get them working. Read some other topics on this forum, but they are a bit beyond me. I can copy and paste a command line in a terminal, but that's about all.

I have used Adept Manager to install sun-java6-bin and sun-java6-jre packets. That seems to be ok, there is a Java 6 Plugin Control Panel in my K-Settings Menu. So the problem seems to be with Firefox.
Appreciate any pointers how to go about it.

      Thanks, Berry, for the tip.
Maybe I will make use of it another time.

However, my problem was solved by a "personal adviser", and his solution was quite easy.

I had already installed from Adept Manager:
      sun-java6-bin
      sun-java6-jre
      He told me to add:
      sun-java6-plugin
and that was all it took.

Seems to me as a newbie that everything one needs can be installed through Adept Manager, the problem being what packages to pick. The long list of over 25000 packages is rather confusing, but as long as the right package is available there, I prefer to avoid running scripts in the Konsole/terminal.

      Bye,
      Theo
