    Generally
Look at http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3099811.0 . Page down to question #13

    Specifically
Look at http://openprinting.org/show_printer...P-DeskJet_3740 . The Deskjet 3740 is in the "Mostly" works categery. Try the HPLIP driver.

Have you restarted your system after installing the new driver?

Re: my hp printer simulate printing but doesn't actually print

          i've just found it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in the hp device manager >>> print settings (tab) >> general >> print out mode >>

the default mode is color cartridge ... and as i'm using only black so it acts like there is already colored cartridge out there ..

so it simulates color printing while the black isn't used .. when i changed it to (normal gray scale black cartridge ) ..then restart to make allll the programs (print out mode is normal gray scale black cartridge) it worked !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s .. recheck the print out mode property in the software you are using to print...adobe , open office .. or what ever .. (even if the device manager is color .. if u just changed the ex: open office printout property to the cartridge you are using .it will also work)

thanks guys for your help ..
