I just installed a frugal version of xubuntu on an old laptop I was trying to salvage. The install took awhile but it completed and booted normally. The only problem is that it will not recognize the username and/or password I had set up during the install. Short of completely reinstalling the OS, is there anyway to change or reenter the username/password?

But, are you sure you've got the password exactly as it was entered during installation? No CapsLock key on or anything like that? You didn't use any funky typographical characters that need the "media" key pressed or anything like that, did you? -
