No sound and videos don't open

    Hi all,
I'm trying to watch a video that has .avi end, but when ever I open kaffeine, I keep getting the error "Loading of player part 'XinePart' failed." and its details: "All Audio Drivers failed to initialize!". I googled it, looked at kaffeines forum and this forum but they didn't work or I didn't understand what to do (because I'm a novice), ah and amarok gives me the message "xine was unable to initialize any audio drivers." when opening/playing and I have no sound coming from anywhere. Any help is appreciated and I'm new to linux, so if your answer can be outright, I'd be glad,
thanks for your interest and your answers

    1) http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3099811.0 scroll down to question #6

    2) Video. Have you installed kubuntu-restricted-extras ? Have you tried to reinstall Kaffeine? Have you tried another media player? - VLC is reckoned to be the most versatile. If you are trying to watch a commercial video make sure you have both libdvdcss2 and win32codecs (or 64 if appropriate). You can get them both from the Medibuntu Repository. Upgrading and downgrading Kubuntu solved the problem somehow, thank you anyway
