sata drive

I installed a new motherboard an AMD64. I'm running 64bit Intrepid live cd now. I want to add a 250GB sata drive.

when i connect it the bios says ide chanell 2 pio and stalls

any ideas?

You need to twiddle the BIOS settings for the SATA bus mode. Try "AHCI" -- that works on mine. Other online info says "RAID" will work for SATA drives too.
