    8.10 - Alternatives to Adept?

I've not been using kubuntu for all that long, but I was able to manage packages just fine with Adept in 7.x. A couple of days ago I upgraded to 8.10 and began exploring - I cannot believe how badly Adept has been broken in 8.10. Nothing seems to make sense compared to the earlier versions.

So what are the alternatives for kubuntu 8.10. Can I safely use Synaptic? If so, where do I get it (since I can't seem to find a way through Adept). Can I "downgrade" Adept to go back to the previous version of just that package? If so, how do I do that?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Just install Synaptic. Without using the current Adept Manager, open a console and type:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install synaptic
The program will be available via K Menu > Applications > System > Package Manager
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Thanks for the quick and helpful responses. Somehow my search managed to miss the FAQ.
