Firefox looks ugly (and so do all the fonts)

I really want to like Linux, but every time i dive into it, i can never get it to look right.
    Here's a screenshot, and i'll explain everything i don't like about it

    http://i33.tinypic.com/122kz6o.png

The tabs looks strange, it seems like either the font is too big, or the tabs are too small. Also, the checkboxes and buttons in GMail look strange, again they are too big. Is there an easy way to fix this?
I pretty much hate how the fonts look on most sites, but i think it's just a matter of getting microsoft fonts installed, so I'll leave that till later.

Not sure about the buttons and checkboxes, but the toolbar and tabs can look better. For that, you can install this addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7962

    Secondly, you may install gtk-qt-engine (and/or gtk-qt-engine-kde4)

do a quick search...I have the link at home, but not here...there is a way to fix the checkboxes...I think it is found in system settings|appearance|windows - something to do with gtk using kde styles...not sure...anyways, check it out, IIRC, it was an easy fix. Then apply a theme to firefox.

        Found it!
Install package gtk2-engines-qtcurve. Now open KMenu->System Settings->Appearance->GTK Styles and Fonts and set "Use another style" (under category GTK Styles) to QtCurve. Save it and restart Firefox.

I fixed it here too and difference is killer, why don´t they set this behaviour to default?

Re: Firefox looks ugly (and so do all the fonts)

I solved this problem by installing kde4-oxygen theme for firefox from http://ramonantonio.net/kde-firefox/
Then it looks like a native kde app. It is also good to uninstall the stupid gtk-engines-qt, which renders all the widgets wrong all the time, and installing a normal gtk engine instead with a gtk oxygen theme.

                        Uninstall gtk-engines-qt ?

                        or

                        gtk-qt-engine ?

Another option is the new Oxygen-Molecule theme on KDE-look.org. It's designed to make GTK+ apps blend in with the default Oxygen style of KDE 4.2, and it works really well with Firefox.
