    blinking display

    Hi
have just installed Kubuntu 8.10, and have some problems with the display.
It is blinking about every sixth second. It shows in the lower half of the display.
    I am using a laptop.
I did not have this problem when I used 8.04.

I see on the settings that they are 60Mhz, which are correct.

What kind of program or commands could I use to make it better.

Did you download all the software updates after installation? I'd do that if you haven't. There are a bunch. Including new binary drivers for NVIDIA (at least, for sure in teh proposed-updates repository, available in Adept). What graphics card does the laptop have?

Something you may wanna try is System Settings -> Display, play a bit with the settings. There is also an option to reconfigure X (the display)

    HTH!

Try this - this will disable the R&R monitor (which is basically for detecting 2nd monitors I think).

      K > System Settings > Advanced > Service Manager > Startup Services

I stopped Detecting RANDR (monitor) changes, and it seems to help so far.
        Thanks.
