    Instaling LaTeX in Kubuntu 8.10

I installed Kubuntu 8.10 on my Laptop and it works very stable.
However, i am missing a lot of typical linux software, especially LaTeX.

    any attempts using sudo, e.g.
"sudo apt-get install texlive texmaker kile"
fails with the message "E: could not find package"

Does the computer has to be connected to the internet for this installation?

I would prefer to install it without direct internet connection?

    Any help is highly appreciated

    it does, in normal circumstances.
installation cds come with a limited amount of software packages on them.
'cause there's only so much you can stuff on a cd.
for the rest, apt counts on an internet connection to reach the software repositories.

you'll have to see if there's anyone that bundles the software you need on some storage device.
then have them ship it to you.
