Forgot my password. I am locked out of Kubuntu and my computer

I'm new at this. I tried once but now I could not remember my logon ID or password. I am locked out of my machine!@#$$%%. HELP!

This is a problem that can be fixed pretty easily. I forgot mine once and someone told me what to do but I can't remember what it was. If you don't get a response, try reposting your message with a subject line that says something like "Forgot my password Can't login" You could try a Google search for forgotten passwords.

never tried it myself but there are 4-5 methods explained, so at least should work for you....

The simple solution (for a default Kubuntu configuration):

• Boot into single user mode (Recovery Mode in the boot menu)
• Get to a shell (sometimes I get a menu at this stage, sometimes not, if you do choose the option that gets you a root shell)
• Run the command "passwd YOUR_USER_NAME" (without the quotes) and set a new password
• Reboot
• Profit!
