It keeps telling me that " I have to remove a write block" to install these updates. Can anyone help me?

No problems - good of you to ask! Open up the menu - system - konsole. You are now in the command line. Think of it as the DOS of Linux if you come from the windows world. Now type the command, it'll ask for your password and watch what it spurts out.
Select everything with your mouse, open a reply for this thread and middle click on your mouse - that is how easy copy and paste can be
