    [SOLVED] easy question...supposedly

hi, I tried searching for a solution, but most seemed to be concerned with previous versions of KDE. I'm try to manually install a login theme (since the theme was not made for KDE 4.1, but I figure this is linux who cares?) If you need to know which theme is it specifically, its Skyline which you can find at the link below. I liked it and tried to modify the file that it mentions in the instructions, and also tried to use KDE Theme Manager, but when I installed KDE Theme Manager I couldnt find where to open it. I also tried using the System Settings>Advanced>Login Manager>Theme but that wouldnt work either. And finally, I also tried Sys Settings>Appearance>Splash Screen, but I didnt know what exactly to do there since the "Get new themes" didnt display the one I want, and I couldnt find a valid theme file to use with "Install Theme File". Thanks in advance for the consultation.

This is with the Kubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex:

    1) Downloading: skyline.tar.gz

    2) Unpacking it

    3) Copying "GdmGreeterTheme.desktop" to "KdmGreeterTheme.desktop"

    4) Changing [GdmGreeterTheme] to [KdmGreeterTheme] at the "KdmGreeterTheme.desktop"

    5) Copying all files to the /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes/skyline

    6) K > System Settings > Login Manager (Advanced):
    Attached Files
    Before you edit, BACKUP !

5b) (Alternative to #5) Pack /skyline folder to the skyline.tar.gz

      6) K > System Settings > Login Manager (Advanced) > Install New Theme
      Before you edit, BACKUP !
