    Could not start kdeinit4 - new installation:Kubuntu 8.10 + PloneUnifiedInstaller

I have done a clean Kubuntu 8.10 installation this morning.
Followed by apt-get update and g++ install.
Then used PloneUnifiedInstaller to install Plone, which includes adding a plone user.
Reboot to find "Could not start kdeinit4. Check your installation" error message.
    Please help a newbie :-)

    I have seen similar posts...
here: http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...3052#msg113052, but no one has replied and the post is more than 120 days old.
and here: http://ph.ubuntuforums.com/showthread.php?t=908677, but the solution involves /etc/rc.conf which does not exist on my system.

    Solution:
    rm /usr/local/lib/libz.so*

Man, you made my day! I know this post is years old, but I just wanted to say Thank You!
After I built zlib from source for a custom NetCDF installation using the Intel compiler suite I couldn't get into KDE anymore - removing the shared library objects from zlib (libz.so*) fixed it!
