    changed from Ubuntu to Kubuntu but wont open

    Hey everyone,
    I'm new to Linux. Recently installed Ubuntu then changed to Kubuntu following the recommended action of;

    Alt F2
    typed "gnome terminal"
    new screen, then typed "sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop"
    entered password

    the files downloaded and installed then stopped with the last entry being
    "nigel@nigel-desktop:~$"
    with the cursor flashing and waiting...

    any ideas of what I'm supposed to type in at this point?

    exit (to close the console).
    Then perform a shutdown/restart. When at the login screen, type in your password and click on the Sessions icon and select KDE.

        Yes, that can be done. What version of *ubuntu are you running?

            Okay.

            K Menu > System Settings > Advanced > Login Manager > Convenience > Enable Auto-Login > User

            Select your user name from the drop down. Click on Apply and OK. The next time you boot your system, you will be auto-logged in to your desktop.
