Monitor screen flickering...

I've installed kubuntu 8.10 and KDE 4.1.

My monitor screen bounces and flickers when I touch the keys on
my keyboard... Can somebody help me?

Mine's doing the same thing. Not just when I touch the keys - but at random times.

But KDE 4.1 looks GREAT! Much more modern than 3.x.

Way to go KDE 4 !!

Try this:

System settings -> Advanced -> Service manager -> stop/disable RANDR service

Hi, I've upgraded from kubuntu hardy to intrepid on my acer tm280.
I had the same flickering problem and disabling randr seems to work for me.

Still I have to restart Xorg sometimes at boot 'cause the screen stays black.

And with the update to new kernel (2.6.27-7) it shows a strange behavior: it seems to hang several times during boot and I have to press a key or tickle the touchpad to wake it up!

Have you got any clue of what might be happening?

I have also the "black screen" problem. I don't know exactly why, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a RANDR thing.
