    laptop power management possibilities

I have winxp on my laptop and would like to replace it by Kubuntu 8.04. Winxp allows me to set laptop to stay running a program when cover is open. Will 8.04 allow me to do the same?

    Re: laptop power management possibilities

Your question has 2 possible interpretations to me:

    1. - power management - If you install kubuntu (if you are new to Linux I would install it alongside XP instead of replacing it for the time being) you should ensure you have the package kpowersave installed. That will enable a number a number of power management options for example switching off or hibernating when you close the lid etc. etc. or

    2. - Running a looping program (like a slideshow on an exhibition stand). Simply ensure that you don't set a screensaver to come on automatically and that you don't set the monitors power-saving options and it should run and run until you stop it.

Unless I have missed the point?
