[SOLVED] dual monitor setup, ati radeon 9600 - how to?

hello guys!

i'm relatively new to linux/kubuntu and i have no idea how to set up a dual monitor configuration with my freshly installed intrepid x64.
i use a radeon 9600 with two acer al1916w tft monitors with a native resolution of 1440x900.
the resolution works fine, but i get the same image mirrored on both monitors.

i use the proprietory ati driver; i tried

sudo aticonfig --initial=dual-head

but it only semmed to mess up the xorg.conf so that i had to fix it booting in recovery mode.

i would really like to have a two-monitor-desktop - please help!

thanx for the tip, it works now.
i used this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=221174 and i can really recommend it, it is a very detailed and easy to understand tutorial.
