    Kubuntu and PCLinuxOS

HI, Before i start i have to assure you that i am NOT planning on abandonning kubuntu, i am eagerly awaiting the release of dapper and will install the day it comes out.

I am interested in installing PCLinuxOS, i am currently running on a duel boot with winxp pro and am using the GRUB boot loader that came with my kubuntu breezy. If i install PCLinuxOS on a different partition or override my current kubuntu and install its LILO, will problems arise or will i be able to choose the OS at startup, like with GRUB?

thank you very much in advance.

    Re: Kubuntu and PCLinuxOS

At one point, I was booting five different operating systems on one computer--Windows and four flavors of Linux.

I've never been able to successfully share a boot with Mandriva for this very reason--most Linux distros use Grub, but Mandriva uses Lilo, and they don't play nice together. Even if I used Mandriva's Grub (and it does have a Grub option), it still doesn't want to play nice with other distros.

P.S. PCLinuxOS is based on Mandriva.
Linux is ready for the desktop--but whose desktop?<br />How to install software in Kubuntu

        Re: Kubuntu and PCLinuxOS

What I did when I triple booted Kubuntu, XP and Ubuntu (installed in that order) was to skip the GRUB part when installing Ubuntu. I then just manually edited the GRUB that was installed by Kubuntu to accommodate the Ubuntu installation.

However, I'm not sure if that will work with other distributions, as Kubuntu and Ubuntu are practically the same. I might have a try if and when I download PCLinuxOS.
