    anybody help me pleaz :S i wanna install JAVA RUNTIME ! (urgent)

    hi~ im actually a programmer, but new to Linux environment...
    i wanted to install JRE & JDK, but i have a dependency problem..
    sun-java6-jre says that it depends on sun-java6-bin~~ and sun-java6-bin says that it depends on sun-java6-jre
    i actually couldnt get outta this issue, like each one of them needs the other... i wanna use NetBeans or Eclipse IDE~~ but i gotta have java support first.. can anyone tell me wut am i supposed to do? THANK U in advance !

    How did you try to install sun java??
    I have it running and it works fine. I installed it through K menu system apt manager.
    Once there I search for sun in the list select sun java 6 bin and any other java extras you need to install. I also would install the plugin for firefox/mozilla.

      as Noel says if you use the package manager (adept, synaptic etc) these dependency issues will be resolved for you.

          i tried installing that using the command line, it didnt work
          so i installed Synaptic,, still the same issue...
          "THE LIQUIDATOR said: these dependency issues will be resolved for you" in fact synaptic didnt resolve any dependencies, i still cant install many other applications cuz of that :S
          well, i tried with Adept Installer, but when i press "apply changes" to install, it says ==>
          There was an error commiting changes. Possibly there was a problem downloading some packages or the commit would break packages.

          anybody knows wuts happening...?

            i wanted to install JRE & JDK, but i have a dependency problem..
            Can you tell us how you tried to install JRE & JDK?

            There are many ways to do this but if you could give details maybe we can help solve the issue.

              iight i can tell u, here is the details ==>
              > i opened synaptic
              > CTRL + F to search then i typed "sun java"
              > i found many packages like "sun-java6-bin, sun-java6-jre, sun-java6-jdk, etc..."
              > when i mark java6-jre for installation i get the dependency problem..

              sun-java6-jre:
              Dépend: sun-java6-bin but it is not going to be installed or
              ia32-sun-java6-bin (=6-03-0ubuntu2) but it is not installable

              i tried also using Adept installer

              > when i click "request install" for installation, it doesnt but it says "BREAK install"
