Some more information about your installation would help, what is your set-up, how far you've got with the installation, etc.

It is impossible that sudo apt-apt get autoclean did anything to your network. This is from the apt-get man file:

      autoclean
Like clean, autoclean clears out the local repository of retrieved package files. The
difference is that it only removes package files that can no longer be downloaded, and
are largely useless. This allows a cache to be maintained over a long period without
it growing out of control. The configuration option APT::Clean-Installed will prevent
installed packages from being erased if it is set to off.
The cause must be something else.

Ah, justintv - I use that for Premiership footy but cannot say that I noticed a lag after having watched it. Certainly not the next day...

Have you looked at your router to look at the actual data?

Perhaps time for some network specialists to tell us how to log/where to look

              Re: how to reinstall kubuntu

I recommend opening a Konsole window and run "top", while your system is running normally, and then put that window down in the corner of your screen where you can watch it.

Then open your "justin tv" or browser or whatever you're doing there, and watch some action. When you're done, close the viewer and take a look at your "top" window. What is using all your resources? Maybe something like "npviewer"? If so, this means the media viewer in your browser is not shutting down when the browser itself is closed.

I'm guessing -- it could be something else. But I don't think it's just your network that is slow -- I suspect your whole system is slow due to some process that is sucking up the resources.

And toad is right -- it has nothing to do with the package manager.

                  Re: how to reinstall kubuntu

"top" is the command that runs a process monitor to list the running processes in descending order of resource usage. So you open KMenu>System>Konsole and at the command prompt, which looks like this:

                  dibl@ibex:~$
you type the command "top" with no quote marks, and press "Enter".

It will run a process that looks like this:

                  Code:
                  top - 11:03:12 up 13:38, 1 user, load average: 0.14, 0.16, 0.11

The first process listed uses the most resources. I'm thinking that when you run it on your system, it will show something that is using an exorbitant amount of resources and slowing everything down.
