no, it's just one of those weird things where the .trash bin is not viewable on the flash drive.

well, there are two options you can try... 1) if you don't have any data you want to save on the flash drive you can reformat, or 2) try going into Konsole and deleting it (with you being new to linux this would be the more difficult option.)

which version of Kubuntu are you using??
The trash can I am talking about is not the one on the flash drive, but on your system. (ie: on the desktop, taskbar next to the clock, or in the KMenu)

the trash bin on your pc is supposed to sync up with the .trash file that gets created on the flash drive.
the .trash file gets created in case you do not actually want to erase that data.

I'm wondering if it is not showing the hidden files because you are not "super user"
Close Dolphin, then in Konsole type kdesu dolphin , if Dolphin opens, try clicking to view hidden files again.

ok..my home folder opened..so I panicked that it would delete that ...dam newbies huh?

ok, since you don't have any data on the drive that you want to save, I would say to go ahead and reformat it.
do you know what the name of the us the usb drive is on the system? (ie: sdd1 or sdb1)
