Partition issue

I'm trying to install Kubuntu 6.0.6 (dvd iso - i368) on my computer but I can't come along at the point where I have to assign the mount points. Before it showed me my WinXP partition(20gb of 80gb) and I created a 15gb big ext3 partition and a 1gb linux swap partition after the WinXP partition. At the next step I chose '/' - 'hda2' and swap - 'hda3'. After that it suddenly showed 2gb beside '/' - 'hda2' even tough I selected 15gb before. When I tried to click on continue it told me that a root partition needs at least 2333mb(or whatever). After that I tried to use the win partition(hda1) and it would have been worked.

Do I have to set the hda 2 partition as 'active'?

You need to set it the lightening bolt (bootup? maybe that's active?) I believe so that GRUB works and you can boot in either Linux or Windows

I solved it by using the option use entire free space and resized the partitions with partition magic (ns...)

Yes, I meant lightening bolt.. didn't know how to translate it from german (aktiv)
