Dolph. and Konq. only finds half of the files in external HD

Hello! I have a Western Digital External passportdrive. Since I'm just converting from WinXP to Kubuntu it's an NTFS-drive. For some weird reason, in Kubuntu, I can only find on of my 2 headfolders. Both in Dolphin and konqueror. No, they're not hidden. The movies I find, the documentaries I don't. Strange. In order to be able to persuade my wife to swallow Kubuntu I need to fix this problem. Among others. Anybody?

Just to be clear, you know for a fact it is formatted NTFS, because I believe they all ship as FAT32 (at least mine did).

Some info here might be relevant...

"HOWEVER, NTFS is a journaling filesystem, and you cannot just pull the connector out of the USB port without first doing a "safely remove" or "eject" in the OS. That's where people get in trouble with NTFS-formatted external USB hard drives -- they get corrupted because of unwritten or partially-written data that was still in cache when the plug was pulled."
