I am in 8.04. When I open an application the button on the taskbar shows in two places on taskbar using up needless taskbar real estate. How can I stop this from happening?

Wheen I rt click on desktop I do not see Add Widgets. I have been adding things to Taskbar via Panel Menu--->Add Application, but no red dots show up there under Taskbar. What now?Comment

arochester's instructions are for kde4...you seem to be using KDE3.
Right-click on the panel and goto Remove from panel>Applet in the menu. If there are two task bar applets, remove one of them.Comment
