    xmodmap capslock |not solved|

how come when I try to send this
    Code:
    keycode 66 = Tab ISO_Left_Tab
    keycode 41 = i I
    keycode 42 = u U
    keycode 53 = f F
    keycode 29 = q Q
    keycode 33 = slash question
    keycode 34 = equal plus
    keycode 35 = z Z
    keycode 61 = l L
file to xmodmap it remaps capslock to tab.  but caps lock still toggles capslock.     even when I set the xkb capslock behavior to non in kcontrol

how do I make caps lock only act as tab

    Re: xmodmap capslock

Those keystrokes have to make it to the CPU before xmodmap can change them. Are you sure your keyboard, itself, isn't controlling what all your keys do via a (possibly, programmable) ROM, or a dip switch configurable ROM?

Alternatively, if you're not using a programmable keyboard, perhaps you should consider one. Personally, I use an "Avant Stellar", which is a made in China replica of the (justifiably) famous, old Northgate Omnikey Ultra. ALL approx. 120 keys are programmable via a flash eeprom.
