how do I delete downloads

I seem to have collected a lot of downloads which are visible when I download anything. Deleting them in the sidebar is a one by one affair. Are they stored in a directory so I can delete wholesale with a file manager?

Unless you specified a location to save the downloads, they 'should' be in your home folder. Dolphin or Konqueror allow you to select one or multiple files within a folder to be acted upon.
