[SOLVED] Think I may have killed it !!!

I've been using Hardy for a bit now & trying to get my kids to use it. However, last night my daughter was messing around on aMSN & myspace etc when I noticed some updates needed doing. So I fired up Adept to install them but something must've gone wrong halfway through the install and now I can't get Kubuntu to get to the login screen !
Is there any way to resurrect my machine ? Thanks in advance

are you able to get to the $ to login using ctrl/alt/f2?
if so, type: sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

[edit] forgot to finish.... back at $ type startx

No I can't seem to be able to get anything out of it ! I suspect something may have gone wrong with the graphics driver as I keep getting this message :

      Code:
Nvidia (96.43.05) : already installed on this kernel
It's an old Geforce 2MX graphics card, by the way.

Ah I think I fixed it ! I selected recovery mode from the grub menu & ran the dpkg option & everything seems to be running fine now. Thanks for your help
