    ACPI Laptop Problem

    Hi!

I Just recently installed Kubuntu on my Laptop (Sony VAIO FE750FM) and everything got fine except for one thing: my battery was literally "eating all energy" in less than 30min on powersave when commonly on Windows XP MCE on power save takes like 2.5 - 3 hours

    Tech Spec
    -Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5600 (1.83GHz1)
    -NVIDIA® GeForce® Go7400 with NVIDIA® TurboCache™
    -1GB DDR2 SDRAM
    -HDD 160GB2 SATA
    - Intel® PRO wireless 3945ABG network connection

    Thanks for Reading and Peace!

Not familiar with Sony VAIO (or possible powersave issues with them), but a few questions that might help you get answers:

What version of kubuntu are you using?
Which KDE version are you using?
What powermanagement software are you using (like powerdevil, kpowersave or guidance-power-manager)?

And double-check that you're really using Powersave (or Dynamic) CPU policy on battery power

powertop (CLI software) can also help you to determine what's eating your battery.

      using:

      Kubuntu 8.04.1
      KDE 3
-KPowersave (added by me) and i think the 1 that Kubuntu came with (i thnk is ACPI Manager)

both are in Power Save Mode

PowerTOP is telling me that 55% of my baterry is drained by
usb4, ohcil394, nvidia wifi0(a pcmcia card barely use it)
