    Official Kubuntu documentation for 8.04

A quick question - I cant find any official documentation on the kubuntu.org site. I have been a longtime kubuntu user but I am recommending this to several of my friends any documentation is important particularly for new users.

The only link I see is to documentation for 5.10 or 7.10
    http://www.kubuntu.org/doc/7.10/index/C/index.html

Has Canonical stopped producing official documentation for kubuntu like they do for Ubuntu for 8.04 ?

I cant view the documentation link on the wiki either - the browser (konqueror) asks me what to do with the .php file-

    http://www.kubuntu.org/doc/index.php

    thanks in advance

What someone has done is mis-named the file, if you save it somewhere, re-name it index.html then click on it, it loads.

        This is what it says:
        Documentation
        7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon)
        6.06 LTS (Dapper Drake)
        About Kubuntu - HTML
Desktop Guide - HTML | PDF
        General Documentation
        6.06 LTS (Dapper Drake)
Extracts from the Official Ubuntu Book - HTML
Server Guide - HTML | PDF
Packaging Guide - HTML | PDF
They are links to the Dapper Drake Documentation at: https://help.ubuntu.com/6.06/kubuntu...u/C/index.html - but the one to Gutsy Gibbon is a dead link.

It is nice to know that i'm not the only one who gets them....

        Edited to add:
I had to edit it.... i gave a link to the wrong address.

              thanks aged hippy for responding.

sorry if I am not being clear. I wanted to know if there is an Official documentation for Kubuntu 8.04.

I have seen documentation for Ubuntu 8.04 and earlier versions for Kubuntu but NOT 8.04. I wanted to know if Canonical has stopped creating official documentation for KDE.

              thanks for your patience

You're not being unclear, i missed the important word: Kubuntu.

No, i can't find any anywhere....

You know, there is a KDE project with web site and docs:

                  http://www.kde.org/documentation/

not to mention the built-in help. It seems a little redundant to expect Canonical to re-package (for free) documentation that already exists.

And then Linux comes with its own built in manual for its commands.
                  Code:
                  man bash
for example, to learn all about the bash command.

                  So, what documentation is missing?

GNOME also has documentation on the web and man, info etc are also available. Yet Canonical builds official documentation that is specific to Ubuntu with distro specific tweaks.

It looks like Canonical has determined that providing documentation for GNOME uers is worth it and KDE users are left to their resources.
