    Creating new partition.

The first beta for Intrepid is approaching fast, and I am considering installing it on a seperate partition. This, of course, means I have to create the partition. Does anybody have any great links on how to do this safely on a harddisk with a working system on it? I have previously partitioned a harddisk for my wife, but had the advantage of not having to keep anything of the disk's contents.
How big would I need to make the partition for Intrepid? Will it be easier to make a seperate home partition when i dont need to copy an existing home directory into it?
What is the best way to do this, really?

Edit: I have the Gparted live cd ready, and it is working. It's what I used on my wife's HD.

I had a quick look for links and found a few. I have a few questions that might help.

Are you using Kubuntu Hardy Heron? Single boot? What size is your hard disk? Notebook or desktop? One or more hard disks?

I've partitioned my hard disk several times, different disks and had no problems with Kubuntu or Debian.
    FIRST. Back up everything.
Second. It is, imho, just as simple to partition using the installer program, or, partition first, then install.
I've done both many times and the result is the same.

Having a separate home partition is excellent. Then when you change distributions, you do not need to format your old home and all the data is left intact. I'm sure others will add some good links.

My hard disk is 80Gb, on a notebook, with one hard disk.

imnsho, no question how I'd do it:

and do that with GParted Live CD, especially if you have a working system you do not want to mess up.
