How to add a New User HH KDE4

Greetings,

I want to add new users to my laptop.
With KUser I can do it (I thought)... however, the user is "there", but only the name, and it does not have an "id" (however, I gave one), and forgets all other automatically set options, as well.

So... no user is added.
:-(

How can a user be added? What should I do differently?

Try this:
alt+F2 then
Hardy:

kdesudo /usr/lib/kde4/bin/kuser

Intrepid:

kdesudo kuser

Well, this is what I was doing... and, unfortunately, it did not work.
When I add the user, a rather empty line is created only.

I am having the same problem. I have tried editing the user ID after to add the missing information. The missing information is then saved, but the new user could not log on. An error is displayed and KDE goes back to the log on screen.

Has anyone been able to solve this problem?

I did some searching and other people, way more skilled than me, are having this problem. I guess we will just have to wait for a patch.

In the meantime, I found this link that may work for us. I am going to try it when I have some time. It looks simple enough.

It appears that kuser isn't abiding by it's own settings to:
Create home folder
Copy skeleton to home folder
User private groups

Kuser does correctly show the new users (testing) Home Directory and Login Shell, but when I restarted KDE and attempted to use this new user - was identified once I started to type in the user name - I was told that the system couldn't enter the users home directory and took me back to the KDM login, from where I chose my regular user account to login.

A quick check from the CLI confirms that the directory /home/testing did not exist.
