    Can't load desktop

I'm new to Kubuntu 8.04 and I had it working but now after changing a setting for my appearance to use a different setting than the default. It goes to the login screen and I login and it freezes after that and it doesn't load the desktop. The mouse doesn't move and the keyboard doesn't work either. I tried the recover but it didn't work either. Please help and help is greatly appreciated.

I assume you have tried to alter the resolution?

If so, start your PC and run rescue mode. At the prompt type sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg . You will be asked for your password.

Best accept all defaults as offered. That will reconfigure the x server. then type startx and the desktop should load for you.
