    Updating Kubuntu

    Hello new to Kubunto here.

what is the esiest way to keep KUBUNTO updated to the latest version.

Do i need to update Ubunto and KDE separately and if so whats the easiest way for a kubuntu noobie to do that?

    Thnxz

Kubuntu will notify you whenever there are updates available for your system. (Icon by the clock)
If you are talking about like say from Kubuntu 8.04 to Kubuntu 8.10, Adept will let you know once the final "stable" release is ready and you can do a full system upgrade at that time.
But, if you want to try out Beta versions before the final RC, you would have to do that on your own.

        Re: Updating Kubuntu

If you´re running the beta is there anyway to upgrade to the release version or do you have to do a new install? I used the alternate install cd to upgrade from 8.04 to the 8.10 beta but don´t seem to be able to find a way to upgrade to the release version. I´ve tried the methods they say work for upgrading from 8.04 but they don seem to work. when I run adept it tells me version 3.0-beta4ubuntu5 is installed.

          Open a console and type:
          Code:
          sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
          upgrade
upgrade is used to install the newest versions of all packages
currently installed on the system from the sources enumerated in
/etc/apt/sources.list. Packages currently installed with new
versions available are retrieved and upgraded; under no
circumstances are currently installed packages removed, or packages
not already installed retrieved and installed. New versions of
currently installed packages that cannot be upgraded without
changing the install status of another package will be left at
their current version. An update must be performed first so that
apt-get knows that new versions of packages are available.
