    New to Linux

I just bought an Acer Aspire One laptop and it came with the Linpus Lite OS. I cannot figure out how to install programs. It brings me to directories and separate files unlike XP where you just clicked install. I also have no idea what Live CD is. I wanted to put Ubuntu on my laptop but I also have no CD rom drive. Any help would be great!

You could go with an external CD-drive. Network installation through boot from usb-stick could be an option (I don't know the details though).

a live cd is when you put a cd in your computer and it runs the operating system from the disk, and flash drive would be the best option i would say, next to getting an external cd rom drive
