mouse wouldn't work

my mouse wouldn't work after about 5 minutes. i ran 'try ubuntu without installing' and i also install ubuntu, and the mouse wouldn't work after about 5 minutes or so.

the same thing happens when i try kubuntu. mouse wouldn't work. both ubuntu and kubuntu are the 64 bits version.

anyone have any idea everything else works but the mouse. even after the mouse quit working, i can still use the keyboard.

i figured out the problem....... dead battery in the mouse!!!

haha, NOPE!!! i updated the bios on the pc.
thanks for the dead battery idea tho, that was really intelligence.
I also found out that updating the bios will fix most of the usb issues!!

glad that solved your problem. I remembered a sysadmin saying telling that his linux server had problem because it couldn't detect it anymore. When i checked, the mouse cable seemed like it was chewed by a rat or something.
