    Upgrade gutsy to hardy incomplete

Hi. I've been running Gutsy since long, a great experience. Use an old ACER laptop, Aspire 1300, no mswindows on it.

On Apt-updater, I clicked "complete update" and it got stucked somewhere. System loads but does not recognize ethernet nor usb ports. CD-rom does'nt work, so I can't run live cd.

How can I get to configure ethernet to get on line and solve?
How can I configure USB ports to use an external CD-Rom?

    Thanks

Have you tried using one of the earlier kernels from the Grub boot menu?

      thankyou for your answer.
Just boot in the earliest kernel; got on-line; unlocked adept and reinstalled dpkg from konsole. Seems to be working now; both, internet connection and usb ports.
Will I need to stick to this earlier kernel?
      Thanks again

imho you can try to remove the latest kernel and try to reinstall it. Do not use the .deb currently in local, better download it again.. use apt-get clean & autoclean to clear cache.

If still do not work , use the previous kernel until next kernel upgrade ;-)

Before that, just reboot and use the current kernel and see how it goes.

New kernel is working just fine, thanks.
But there is a new problem: I use a Sony Walkman (can't live without it) and in Hardy it is not recognized as it was in Gutsy as a mass storage USB device.
I've done some search, of course I'm not the only one with this issue, but there seems to be no solution yet. So, I want to go back to Gutsy, ¿is this possible without new clean install?

Nope, no "downgrade path" available, I'm afraid.

Then I'll try to solve the walkman problem following other threads... Thanks!
