I have installed the Kubuntu desktop after using Ubuntu for some months. I really like KDE and when Intrepid is released, I want to stick with Kubuntu. Any idea if this will complicate the upgrade please?

If you plan on waiting until the official release of Intrepid I don't see a problem. you should be able to use Adept to upgrade to the new system."Either you repeat the same conventional doctrines everybody is saying, or else you say something true, and it will sound like it's from Neptune." ~Noam Chomsky<br /><br />Gigabyte MB, AMD 64x2 6000, 2 Gigs Patriot DDR2, XFX GeForce 8600GT XXX, 400Gig WD SATA HDD & 1TB WD SATA HDD.

Re: Installed Kubuntu desktop on Ubuntu - effect on upgrading?
I upgraded from Ubuntu to KDE4 desktop, however when I run lsb_release -a in a konsole I still get:
Code:No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1 Release: 8.04 Codename: hardy
Code:No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Kubuntu Description: Kubuntu 8.04.1 Release: 8.04 Codename: hardy

Re: Installed Kubuntu desktop on Ubuntu - effect on upgrading?
no, that is what it should read as the base, underlying system (kernel, system tools and libraries, etc) is Ubuntu. Kubuntu is for the most part Ubuntu with a different desktop environment, so your lsb-release output is correct. You don't want to "fix" this as it probably would mess up future upgrades. As Kubuntu/ubuntu/xubuntu all can co-exist on your computer, all using the same base, they all need the same version-name.
