    Wireless optical mouse doesnot work

Hey I just bought a wireless optical mouse with an usb receiver. However, when I try to use it in my Presario F500, it doesnt respond at all, cursor just doesnt move anywhere despite red light is always lit as usual. I tried the same device in an old winxp desktop and it worked right away.
I guess it is not such a hard problem but as a noob I really dont know what to do and I really need a mouse to write fast.
    result for lsusb is:
    Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 010: ID 062a:0000 Creative Labs Optical Mouse
    Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

which means that it is somehow detected but for some reason it just doesnt works.
Any help would be just great
    cheers to all

quite odd that the mouse have ben detencted..

    try to:
    1) remove the mouse from usb
    2) open command line and type: "sudo tail -f /var/log/messages"
    3) plug your mouse

once plugged you will see how the kernel detect the now device. For my mouse i got:

Aug 13 10:57:27 hyperion kernel: [ 2401.712321] usb 2-1: new low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 4

imho the mouse its correctly detected.. it should work. Realy dunno why do not works.

Out of curiosity, if you put any other usb mouse (also wired) it works?
Can you make a test with any other mouse?

Re: Wireless optical mouse doesnot work

Ive just tested another mouse and yes it works. look at this
          juandiego@juandiego-laptop:~$ lsusb
          Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 046d:c018 Logitech, Inc.
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 062a:0000 Creative Labs Optical Mouse
          Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

Logitech wired is working but Creative wireless is stll with its red light flashing and no response on the screen

If Presario F500 means 'laptop'.........how about 'disabling' it's Touch-pad, then, try USB Mouse again.
That's it is done ....with Windows.
The 'Touch-pad' has priority...over the USB.
Once that is disabled..... USB mouse will work.
(Don't ask me 'how'...to disable it, in Kubuntu. I don't use a laptop.)

With my Thinkpad, the touchpad can be disabled in the BIOS.... worth a try.

tried everything and didnt really worked (or may be i didnt do it correctly) anyway , i had to return the mouse and get a wired one that works just fine.
thank you all for the help though.
