    Kubuntu dementia

My laptop can no longer remember changes to system settings. It can't remember changes to dns settings, login preferences, and an environmental variable set in Bash.

Short of a clean install any suggestions for repairing this?

    Thanks S

    Re: Kubuntu dementia

You need to provide us with more pertinent information. :P

What does your system consist of? Type of laptop, amount of installed RAM, size of HD, etc. One of the very first things to check is available space on the system. Open a console and type:
    Code:
    df -HTxtmpfs
Copy and paste the output. If either you root ( / ) or home ( /home ) partitions show Use% at/near 100% then you are experiencing a space problem - which is fixable.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.
