    Kubuntu Sticks On Booting

    Hi all, I am wondering if anyone can help, I love my Kubunto, however just recently it sticks/jams up on booting and I have to switch off and start again, usually takes about 3-4 boots to get going, can any one help please.

    Have you tried to disable splash image (that fancy thing with progress bar)?

        There are two ways:
        Permanant:
        edit /boot/grub/menu.lst as root (alt+f2->kdesudo kate->password).
        find the line that looks like this:
        title Ubuntu 8.04.1, kernel 2.6.24-19-generic
        root (hd0,8)
        kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-19-generic root=UUID=e055015d-35e6-4c92-abf4-523db36880af ro splash vga=794
        initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.24-19-generic
        quiet
        and delete "splash" and "quiet" (my quiet is already gone)

        Temporary:
        hit alt+F1 at boot and watch the boot progress.

        You are probably having the boot check your file systems, that usually takes some time and happens every 20-30 boots.

        I hope that points you in the right direction
