Relatively new to Linux. When I installed Kubuntu the wireless on my NEC Versa P7200 laptop worked "out of the box" with minimal manual intervention.
My problem? If possible I would like at times to be able to turn off the wireless to save battery power. There is a "disable wireless" option when I right click on the wireless icon, but does it actually turn off the transmitter? On my machine the wireless LED remains on.
I could do it with the original XP installation by pressing a function key but it must be software controlled as it doesn't work since installing Kubuntu.
